This book was written in South Africa. It says on the cover that it is hilarious, but I think it was terrible. I hated how it tricked me into reading the book by making it look good on the cover. The book is set like a diary and I couldn’t go any further than the 2nd day. I will admit, it was funny at first, but then it got super boring. Also this book is very inappropriate. Only in the first 10 pages, SPUD had already referred to a [body part] about 10 times. This book is the worst. [hashtag.hashbrown]
August has a facial deformity that prevents him from going to primary school up until 5th grade, and whatever you think he looks like, it’s probably worse. Then in 5th grade at Breecher Prep, he gets gossiped about a lot. I like the style of picking different characters for each chapter. My favorite scene is when he goes on a field trip. This was the best book I’ve read since Stargirl! This book reminds me of myself. [the_only_word_to_describe_me_is_swag]
There was a town that believed that children were kidnapped and put into fairy tales. Sophie thought she would become a princess, and Agatha thought she was gonna become a witch. The day came, but a terrible mistake made them realize who they really are.
I liked it when Agatha tried to talk to animals and she could turn them back into who they really were, a bunch of kids. The suspicion is on – is Sophie a princess or a witch? Is Agatha a witch or a princess? The truth is that … well, read the book and find out for yourselves. [Shadow take you all]
Since Miki is now in on what Hiro’s BIG secret is, she helps him out with his work. Then she realizes he is spying on her friend, Yumi. She tries to keep it a secret, and she does, but it becomes a challenge throughout the book. It’s now Hiro’s birthday and usually she is supposed to call him before she comes over, but then his present wouldn’t be a surprise. So she goes and knocks on his door, but when Hiro opens the door he steps out with a girl. Will this girl tear Miki and Hiro apart?
This book is great, but I suggest you read Miki Falls 1: Spring first, otherwise this one will be very confusing. I love this book cause it’s a short little read. I am going to read the other two books in this series, Miki Falls Autumn and Winter. [pixiestix123]
Dwight just got send to Tippett Academy. Meanwhile, at McQuarrie Middle School, Tommy and his friends are bored … until a furry monster appears: the Fortune Wookiee. It gives advice like Dwight’s Yoda. My favorite scene is when Kellen sneezes on Harvey’s snowtrooper. Book 3 of the Origami Yoda series. [Gecko1247]
These 3 best friends in high school who have known each other since 6th grade go through an adventure with their lives. When one of them has to move, their whole world falls apart! They go through all kinds of things. I would tell you more but I don’t want to tell the best part! I think this was the best drama book ever, it is now my favorite book! [uniheartsbelike]
A girl moves to a new town and school, and can’t wait to make friends. When she gets to school, she tells all her teachers and friends, and classmates, that she has a peanut allergy. There’s only one thing – she doesn’t. See what happens when they find out the truth!
This was actually a very bad book. It was quite boring, and sorta repetitive, SO BEWARE! It seemed interesting at the beginning , but just got boring in the middle and end. The end was VERY anticipated, and there were no plot twists, or anything … just, uh, very expected. [Star-Cat]
Science Fair is about 3 friends, Toby, Tamara, and Micah, who want to beat the rich kids who always win by cheating. Toby, Tamara, and Micah end up getting suspended from school, Toby ends up getting blackmailed, and other things. It turns out that the science fair causes a terrorist attack.
I really liked this book because it was funny how much trouble Toby, Tamara, and Micah can get into with the rich kids. My favorite scene would be when Toby used a cantaloupe camera … and got attacked by a robot-laser-eye owl. [∏]
This book is about four girls – Aria, Spencer, Hannah and Emily. They try to find out who killed one of their friends, Alison. They get text messages from an anonymous person (“A”) who knows about their past and present.
My favorite scene is when Emily introduces herself to Maya, a girl who moved into Alison’s house. Well, I like this part because Maya smokes and then Emily says ‘no’ – DRAMA! (Note: don’t smoke, it’s bad.) Book 1 of the Pretty Little Liars series. [im cool]
A girl named Julie wants to be popular, but her friend was trying to tell her that being popular is not really good because you’re just acting like someone else. Just be yourself! Julie learns her lesson – she gets sad and listens to her friend. My favorite character is Julie because her friend Melody was telling her right, just be yourself and don’t embarrass yourself. Also, be a leader and not a follower. [be your self]
A kid named Greg who got a diary that his mom bought for him. One day he starts to write “personal stuff” in it. He has a friend named Rowley, and they spend all their time together playing video games. Then one day it’s back to school. There is a big stinky cheese for Greg and Rowley …
I like the part when Greg was about to touch the cheese and get the cheese touch. I also liked it when Rodrick (Greg’s brother) tries to take the “book” from Greg, because the fight was so hilarious, I can’t even explain it because it was so good. The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series has been my favorite, I have all of them at home. [firemaster12345101]
This is about a girl, Miki, who sees a new kid, Hiro, come into town. She knows he is hiding a deep dark secret. Miki and her friend try to be nice but he shuts everyone out. One day Hiro walks her home, but it starts raining so they go to his house instead. While Miki is changing, the basement door creaks open, she peeks down the stairs and Hiro closes the door. She then spends all her free time stalking him. Finally Miki gets to learn his secret.
This book is the best graphic novel I have read so far. Miki is my favorite character because she is very determined. I will definitely read Miki Falls: Summer, Autumn, and Winter. [pixiestix123]
This book has seventeen comics from seventeen different authors. It’s all about being in middle school, making friends, and being the new kid. It’s a good graphic novel because it has a whole bunch of short stories in it. My favorite story is “Never Go Home” because it’s about a boy who runs away and meets a girl. The girl makes him want to go home. I love this book, it’s awesome. [pixiestix123]
So, this boy named Phillip Malloy was in his English class, and every day the announcements play the Star Spangled Banner, and Phillip sings along to it. The English teacher sends the student to the office. What will happen next?
This book is the most awesome, majestic book I have ever read (besides The Hunger Games and Stargirl) because it’s so exiting and you’ll never know what will happen next. My favorite character is Phillip because he is the main focus in the book. [majestic_buddermannofspam]
Paige Turner (yes, that’s her name – her parents are writers) has just moved to Manhattan with her parents and cat, Harvey. She used to live in the country, and is now far away from all of her friends, the only people which she could be herself around.
This book is by far one of my favorite graphic novels. The characters are easy to relate to, especially Paige, with whom I share some similar qualities: I have a hard time coming out of my shell as well, and I love to draw. [Bill Cipher /?]
This book may seem a little boring in the beginning, but when you get past the first three chapters it will be all you can think about. Spencer is in trouble!! She has something about her that just can’t seem to get Melissa a relationship that can last until her wedding day. Aria has an interesting taste in boyfriends, this will be worse than an F in science. Emily has a REALLY good rock to lean on because the everlasting love between her and Ben isn’t so everlasting. After years of being “Hefty Hanna,” is her addiction to looking flawless making her sick? You can find out more details about these girls and their seriously twisted lives in the Pretty Little Liars series. Also watch them every Tuesday in October at 8pm on ABC Family.
This book is awesome and suspenseful and exciting all at the same time. My favorite character is Spencer because if you take an average annoying little sister and multiply by ten, that is how Melissa feels, and Spencer does that without even trying. Book 2 of the Pretty Little Liars series. [little diva 1223]
The family meets a former trouble-making friend of Rodrick who is now a model student after attending a military school known as Spag (or something) Union. After Greg watches other toddlers urinating in the pool, to his horror, the show begins with Greg speaking to the audience about summer and that he and Frank have nothing in common. But at least if he stays a step ahead, Greg claims, he will have a shot at a great summer. Greg lies to his father about having a job in the country club which was introduced by Rowly, his best friend.
The book is hilarious, especially the last part where Rodrick showed up, he made Holly’s sister disappointed by not wearing a certain clothing. She got disapointed because of his loaded diaper style. [#yolo*]
This teenage girl named Tessa gets hit in the head playing dodgeball (in school). She hits the gym floor hard and the last thing she remembers is the janitor cleaning her blood off the gym floor. Now she is soaring in heaven, or what she thinks is heaven, because it looks like the mall her parents work at. She takes a nap on the bench near the Cinnabon and she is at the hospital. So a boy with a Drill bit in his head pulls on her oxygen cord so now she is reliving all things importing in her life.
This is one of these books that if you skip ahead, you won’t know what happened. It’s a great book, I love the way the author wrote it. [beviediva]
This book is about a girl named Nikki who signs up for her school talent show with her BFFs Chloe and Zoey, and then she quits after she getting caught by her enemy Mackenzie when she was with her sister Brianna. So Mackenzie threatens Nikki and forces her to quit, and then her friends Chloe and Zoey get on to Mackenzie’s talent team. Nikki finally joins again by putting up signs and making a band, but she [not giving away the ending].
I LOVE this book so much! Read this book to see who wins the talent show!! This whole book will keep you laughing, excited, but more importantly interested in the books and illustrations. Book 1 of the Drama High series. [cupcake1]
In this book there’s a little girl who’s a complete genius, but her parents are so stuck up in their glamorous scam world that they fail to see that. So she finds an amazing teacher, Ms. Honey, and in the end – well, let’s just say she has a new family. I love this book, I even have the movie. I really recommend this book to everyone, it’s exciting and really interesting. [Skittles123]
If you have ever been embarrassed or liked someone that doesn’t like you back, this is the perfect story to read. Erin is a girl who has a very protective mother and father. To Erin she thinks her parents treat her like a baby – until she breaks one of her parents’ rules and goes to a party. Worst night of her life. Erin gets picked on at times but gets advice from one of her favorite teachers.
My favorite part of the story is the resolution. I like it when stories have happy endings. Erin and the boy of her dreams are finally together. They had to go through some pretty tough times to realize how much they really liked each other. [Mr. Top_Of_The_Line21]
This is mainly about the first Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie shown in theaters. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, it tells you about it, kind of like a summary. The good thing is that it doesn’t give “spoiler alerts.” My favorite part in the book is the part when they show the actors for the movie. It’s like the real people. What they did was see if the two kids could act like the friends Greg and Rowley. [TMGamer131]
This is about two important characters and their lives. One character who is a girl doesn’t like gangs, but that’s what her whole school has. Her father is either at work or at his girlfriend’s house. So she is an independent girl. On the other hand another character who is a boy is new to school. His personality, well is … different. Somehow they meet and they start having feelings about each other. Then something happens and changes both of their lives.
The scene that got me interested the most was when she was at her locker and her supposed-to-be good friend fights her. I thought at that point that Maggie wasn’t her friend all along. Maggie was just being her friend until she did something that she didn’t like. You always have to watch who’s your and friend and who’s not. [Top_Of_The_Line21]
You’re spinning, the wind is blowing your hair back … it’s the falling dream again. A moment before you face-plant into the ground, you see a classroom fade into your view. One of your peers is waking up. This is what Jane Hannagan goes through whenever she’s in the range of a fellow classmate who begins to drift off to sleep. Of course she can’t help herself. It’s just that she gets sucked into peoples’ dreams. One day she finds herself in a creepy nightmare – a man with blades for hands. Will she find out who’s having these awful dreams? Or will reality catch up to her first, with her mom’s drinking problem, her best friend’s bad influences, and a boyfriend who could quite possibly be dealing drugs. Will the madness ever end?
This book was great! The author’s point of view and style of writing felt totally different than in Lisa McMann’s other thrill-filled mystery, Cruel Cross. The whole trilogy of the Wake series sounds interesting. I loved how McMann divides each chapter by the dates, rather from first person point of view to its third person point of view. I really loved this book. You won’t have to tell me twice to read the next book in this wonderful series! [Rocky 158]
Quigley needs a prom dress, needs to find a job, and most importantly, needs a prom date! How hard could that be? Well, she just lost hr job, doesn’t have enough money for a dress, and definitely cannot find a date. Then things start to look up! Anne, her BFF, finds them a new modeling job and she meets Zander. Is he a possible future date? Will Quigley get her dress and a dream date to the prom? Or will something or someone ruin it for her?
I really loved this book! It was a realistic story, one that relates to middle school girls. I would definitely recommend this book to read. It’s the perfect mix of realistic fiction, with just the right touch of humor, sadness, and romance [dizdiv]
